John C. Houbolt dies at 95

http://www.latimes.com/obituaries/la...#axzz2zcdpoVS0

I have a slight issue with the reporting of Houbolt death. This and other stories make out that Houbolt came up with the idea of Lunar Orbit Rendezvous (LOR)...he didn't....the idea was Thomas Dolan...he developed the concept of Lunar orbit rendezvous for the Apollo program while working at Vought Astronautics. When Dolan presented the idea to NASA it was rejected until it came to the attention of Houbolt whom again pushed the idea with NASA. LOR was eventually accepted as the way to go to the moon.

In the television series From "The Earth to the Moon", episode 5, "Spider",
there is a dramatized re-enactment of Houbolt trying to push the
Dolan report idea to his engineering colleagues and raising eyebrows
when he writes directly to the head of engineering.

I have the series on Bluray Gary, I will have to watch it again sometime.
A really good history of the American space program.
Cheers
