What you are buying is an LX200 12 inch mount with all the replaceable components REMOVED. That is the worm gears and motors, the motor controller boards, GPS and associated board, level control board and the main computer board have all been removed. The wiring however is intact.
· This mount is suitable for someone with a damaged mount; all your components can easily be transferred into this mount.
· Would make a great giant binocular mount.
· Would make a great compact Dobsonian mount.
· Would be an ideal platform for making your own hybrid fork mount.
· If you have a smaller LX200 (8inch) and wanted longer fork arms because your camera keeps hitting the base, the middle arm sections of these mounts are all the same size only the length varies, so you can easily extend your fork arms. It’s just a bolt on section. Meade uses the same wiring loom in all the mounts they just fold the excess wiring and tie it with a zippy tie. This mount was from a fully operational LX200-ACF 12 inch telescope manufactured around 2011 the tube had the new crinkle paint finish. I bought it for the spare parts for my 14 inch LX200. As all of you are aware getting parts from Meade can be “difficult” so having parts is good insurance. One good thing about the LX200 range is that all motors, gears and boards are the same from the 8 inch through to the 14inch scopes. The only thing that changes in the mounts is the arm base width and the arm length; it’s basically a modular design. The base gear housing and the top gear housings are the same size for all the Meade scopes and the various sections just bolt together so if you need parts you can just replace the damaged section.
