Thumbs up When wives surprise us!

I have always taken it for granted that Cheryl is cool with the idea when I say I am going to build an observatory.

Actually, she never says much more than "mmmm" when I point and say "that's where I wanna build an observatory soon".

Yesterday I made use of the tiny cubby again as a control room for my 12" scope now that it is ready to use on the EQ mount.

I set the cubby in place and filled it with the desktop pooter for imaging, the lappy for driving the mount, red light, cables etc etc. All ready to go!

Now, this cubby was built for up to 5 year olds. It has a tiny tiny doorway, the floor area is 4' x 4', and 4' high. Not a lot of space!!!!
As I was awkwardly climbing out of the door on my hands and knees I looked up to see Cheryl standing there laughing at me.

Through her laughter and me trying to straighten my sore back she said "why don't you build a proper big observatory, and do it all properly"

OK, I have been told to do it!

Here are some pics of the 'MINI' obs set-up that caused the insistance that I build a 'Proper' obs.

Pic 1: Mini Obs with Mount behind
Pic 2: A look inside
Pic 3: Just enough room for the lappy (but not me)

You heard her Ken ,go and "build a proper one and build it properly "
If that was me i'd be down the bank the next morning and then straight to the Ballarat observatory to get a copy of their floor plans!!!!

Problem number 1: nothing in the bank

Problem number 2: Ballarat Observatory doesn't have a proper dome building. Theirs is just a little dome on a little round building. All the bigger ones are slide off rooves.

better to ask for forgiveness than to ask permission? But sometimes they do surprise you with the latter first
