Mirror Aluminising

Hi All,

I have a 16" Lightbridge and was wondering who can re-aluminise this size mirror in Australia. I am sure this has been covered (no pun intended) before, but I am looking for up-to-date information.

I am heading to Denver in May and will be visiting JMI Telescopes in Lakewood. I am considering turning my 16" into a GOTO scope. Due to my back problems, I am finding this harder to position manually.

However, although the mirror is still fine, it is starting to shows some degradation in the surface coating. Although this is very minor, I don't want to make the outlay for the GOTO stuff, unless I know where I can get it re-aluminised, when the time comes.

The place I know/knew about cannot do this size mirror, or have ceased to exist. Is it cheaper to just buy a new mirror. I have made enquiries about this today.

My question is, who can do this in Australia, and can they do over-coating?

Thanks and cheers

Pete

I believe Wayne Sainty of Saintech in Taree is held in very high regard. Also when I got my Servocat GoTo for my Lightbridge Gary at Stellarcat mentioned he was looking to discount the last of his kits for lightbridges
