Mars at 50

... f/50, that is. Taken on 16 Apr 2014, 1428UT.

Equipment: LX200-ACF 10", 2x Barlow, 2.5x Powermate, Canon EOS 600d. Seeing was all over the place, and I didn't get many runs due to unexpected cloud that materialised, TARDIS-like, only 90 minutes into my session.

Used 10%-ish of 3000 frames in AS!2 and wavelets in Registax, with a minor touch-up in Gimp. No scaling involved - this is actual size - the image, not the planet!

Thanks. Is that a bit like, "Brave decision, Minister"?

It appears to be the best Mars I've done so far. That's not saying much, though.

Great image.

How do you affix your camera, if at all, to the EP?

Thanks. There's no eyepiece - it's prime focus. The train goes like this:

2" focusser barrel > 2x Barlow > 2.5x Powermate > T-thread adapter > T-ring > Camera

That's cool, I didn't know you could mount a camera to a Powaermate. I'm falling in love with lunar imaging, so your method will be very useful, thanks.
