Karijini

Last night I got clouded out AFTER setting up all my gear for some Astro-piccy stuff, after cursing and putting everything back I checked my emails and was further frustrated by some great pics my Brother sent of his camping trip in Karijini National Park. Its a awesome place to visit just dont go during December like myself the heat was truly extreme and the flies likewise .Only two pics where sent and im not sure which gorge/water pool they where taken in

more info on the park

Ditto what a fantastic looking spot Stuart. I'll bet that water is popular, even during winter.

Nice dark skies too

Lovely colour in the rocks Stuart, is the hole swimmable or is it haunted by crocks??

Cheers Phil no salties but im pretty sure in some areas there are freshwater crocs .....nothing to worry about . Most of the water systems/pools are swimmable except for a few areas near the Town of Wittenoom where Asbestos tailings from mining pose a hazard. When I went I visited the lookouts on the gorges instead of walking down into them because of the heat and the limited time I had out there. You really need to camp a few nights to appreciate the area, and to get to some of the pools/waterfalls require hiking to get there {and some climbing .Like most scenic areas photographs/images dont do the place justice .
