Night Vision in SkyChart

I must be missing something....Im using Skychart v3.8-2450 on my MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.1

I would like to use it in night vision mode, but when selected the main part of the screen dims red, but the borders around the window still glow bright grey. I can't seem to change these settings...and it really does defeat the Night Vision purpose of the setting. Has anyone noticed the same thing, or am I missing something obvious? All I can do is set the screen brightness so low that everything becomes hard to read.....love to hear your thoughts.

I have been unable to find a way to change the settings.
For the interest of anyone with similar problems, I have solved the issue by downloading a program called Nocturne.....which can provide a night vision overlay and other things like screen inversion.
So far it seems to work seamlessly and provides a dark red but readable page with adjustable brightness.
