M42 naked eye

This morning while waiting for a job at work, 6am, i went outside to have a quick smoke and noticed Orion was rising ahead of the sun in the east.

I looked and could make out the glow of M42 clearly with the naked eye, it has been a few long months since i've seen this neb, and it was a buzz seeing it again.

I think i will be taking the binno's with me to work in the morning to get a visual dose of astro up and go to start the day, couldn't think of anything better

,maybe the day off

Good stuff Trevor.

It's nice to see The Hunter making a reappearance in our early morning skies.

The whole constellation, including M42, is such a magic part of the sky. You really miss it while its gone.

M42 certainly does it for me. It was the first great nebula I saw when starting as a teenager back in the early 80's....
