Can I buy a MMOAG In Australia?
If I buy it from overseas website like this one, how much will it REALLY cost me here? I guess shipping is not included in the price either?

Baz.
EDIT: Just had a deeper look at the shipping on the above site. After postage and currency conversion it equates to $989AUD.
Please please please let there be somewhere in Australia I can get it cheaper.....

Nope Astrodon's are the only retailers. Best OAG on the market though. So you got to pay the dough if you want to use something that will work with the back end of that scope you just bought.

$825 US. Not including adapters, extra lenses and shipping. Ouch. Well. You've spilled this much for astrophotography already. Why stop now?

$989 seems cheap. Just adding the cost of one adapter puts it over $A1000,
plus post (by the way, credit card companies also like to slug you extra for foreign transactions)
Over $A1000 also means GST may apply.

There are alternatives to the MMOAG. Teleskop Services has one, Starlight Express sells one, Hutech sells Mitsuboshi ones (these look very similar to MMOAG so I suspect they are the original manufacturer), Orion has one.
Look in optcorp.com where they are all listed with prices.
Astrodon has a huge list of available adapters which is handy although they are typically US$105 each and hard to understand which one is needed for what.
Starlight Express adapters in comparison are US$45 each. And the OAG is about $400.

What size camera are you going to be using with the scope Barry? You might be able to use a MOAG instead of a MMOAG.

I think I'll leave it for now. I can't afford the MMOAG, much less the SBIG of FLI that I dream of putting behind it.
For now, I'll stick the the Orion Starshoot with an Orion Deluxe OAG. That will get me going at least.
Thanks for all the info, links, experience and advice my fellow IIS'ers. I am much better informed thanks to you all. I'll leave it at that for now.

Hi Baz
Consider the Teleskop Service OAG rather than the Orion....build is better..

Per Paul though, what Camera/CCD are you going to use?

Baz, you can borrow my QHY9-M plus filters etc if you would like? My observatory is still yet to be moved to my new house (still at parents) and my mount is still being sorted at Tasco.
It may give you something else to play with at least.
