Sharpless 2-308

This is a NB of SH308 7MB

NII to red and OIII to green and blue.

Needs more TLC or data.

Yaaaay not the Vela SNR or LMC or SMC Yaaaay

That's a very cool object Bert, I well remember Marcos version and while his version is probably technically prettier from a processing perspective, I like how you are showing stuff in a large area around it

Lovely image Bert. I think the colour mapping is a good choice. It gives quite a natural look to NB images.

That's an awesome image Bert. Well suited to your setup. Love it.

You are well versed in the intricasies of N11 or Ha. Did you chose N11 because its close to Ha but picks up
a different look or is it less dominating in an image than Ha in an object like this? I am curious to know.

Greg.

Excellent Bert. Whispy and well defined at the same time.

You are close to the truth Mike. I have managed to get four panels of the Vela SNR in deep NII, OIII and SII. Aiming for six.

Thought I would see what the system could get of the SH308 bubble as a diversion before it was out of sight. It is processed to see down to the noise. With more data this noise will lessen.

Most extended objects look very similar in NII and HA. The NII seems to have better detail. The 'forbidden' N[II] transition needs stars high in UV to stimulate emission of N[II].

The Helix Nebula shows a great deal of difference.

I hope to get some HA tonight of SH308 to find out.

Thanks for that Bert. I'll have to get an N11 filter at some point.
I had a go at SH2-308 last night with the CDK and Trius at F4.5. I was only picking up about 1/10th of it at that image scale. Its a job for my refractors and the Proline I think! Its quite a large object. A shame as it was picking it up quite well. I may do one anyway at some point showing just part of the arc. Maybe that end part where it tapers in.

Greg.
