M42

I have in desperation combined my images of m42 (approx. 2 hrs 50 min) shot with my Atik 383L+ color camera, through my Skywatcher ED 80 Pro using at flattener. Desperation because the weather has been grey since the start of december, and there is nothing indicating any improvement in the weather.

About the image: the core near the trapezium is off, colorwise. Actually, the whole image is probably off, colorwise, come to think of it... I will try to improve it... Or start with another, less frustrating hobby

I like it! I suspect you can also pull a bit more out of this image considering the amount of exposure time you have there. How long were the subs?

Cheers,
Cam

Thank you

Thank you for your kind comment.

The subs are 15s, 60s, 300s, and 600s.

I have stacked in DSS. I stacked 15s by themselves, and the 60s by themselves, and then combined the stacks in PS5.

I stacked the 300s and 600s together, and used Digital Development in Nebulosity.

I combined the 15s+60s-combined with the 300s+600s in PS5. I've used curves , labcolor mode the two separate layers, and a highpass filter on the flattened composite of the two layers.

But come to think of it: I know very little about serious image processing.

Hints, tricks of the trade, are welcomed!
