Spencer's Astro Camera conversions

I see Mr Cherney has used their conversion services, sounds pretty happy.

http://www.spencerscamera.com/about.cfm

I"m thinking of getting my spare EOS 40D converted, as well as getting their cooling option installed, as a pretty cheap first astro camera alternative.

Anyone else used their services? Sounds like a good idea? Better than spending over a grand for my first images (I'm a noob, still waiting for my first scope to be delivered).

details of their 'cooling' is hard to find. i think it is just a passive heat sink, i'm not sure how useful that would be in australia. be sure to compare to central ds particularly if cooling is important to you.

cheers

Google their name and you will find some pretty unhappy customers.
Make sure you are informed or call them and see whats what.

I imagine their cooling system is as mentioned just a bit of aluminium or copper tape attached to the body to help reduce heat.

Sony A7 has copper tape at the back to remove some heat. I am sure it all adds up though.

Greg.

Why not spend the extra money and get it converted by camera clinic in melbourne , at least it's guaranteed in Australia.
