Southern Cross from Wiruna

This is a single frame shot of the Southern Cross taken from Wiruna in January. Canon 7d and 24-105L lens at F4. This is a three minute exposure with noise reduction on tracked on a Polarie. I thought it was a fitting picture given it is Australia Day today.

Hi John,

That's a great shot, nice star colour and nicely balanced background.

Awesome shot. The coal sack came out very well too. The skies must have been dark!

Thanks Guys

Shot taken at F4 and ISO 1600 for 3 minutes using the cameras long exposure noise reduction-full range of the lens used (105mm x 1.6). Tweaked slightly in Photoshop CC.
