New Year's Day Jupiter

Hi everyone

Finally found time to process some Jupiter images taken close to opposition earlier this month. Captured shortly after the New Year's Day celebrations around 1:40 AEDT with Meade 2x-3x variable barlow.

There was a brief 10 minute period of steady seeing for combination of 3000-4000 frames at an optimum focal ratio for my ccd (f/28).

I'm pretty happy to be able to squeeze some detail on Ganymede. That's probably as good as it is going to get this time round from my southerly latitudes..

Cheers,
Seb

Nice effort Seb.
Jupiter is quite a challenge for us southern dwellers this time.

Thanks Maurice. For some reason GIF animation is not looping as expected so here's a link to a full size version at AstroBin

Also done the same for my last Mars captures.. It's fun to see the planet rotating (albeit slower than the field in this case)
