AP Mach1 mount and PEC

Hi all

I have never tested the Periodic error on my mount or attempted to create a PEC curve?

Is this something that I should be checking and if so how should I go about it? Should I buy PEMPRO and use that?

My guiding results (with a guide scope) to date have been okay but sometimes RMS errors have been a bit higher than hoped but I don't know if this was really anything to do with the mount as such.

Cheers
Brett

I thought pempro is part of the package in mach1?? How long are your guiding exposures? What software are you using for guiding?

With the mach 1 mounts Pec is tested in the factory and the PEC curve preloaded into the ROM.

I am doing 5 min subs, using PHD2

I believe a curve is loaded at the factory but it is recommended to do again after mount has had some use. No pec software actually comes with it.

Any Mach1 owners out there that have done anything with PEC?

If you are using phd why dont you aquire an unguided log and then run it through pecprep just to see what your PE looks like? Its free and might give you an idea of what your dealing with.
