Mount for testing

A long shot request, but no harm in asking...

I am taking delivery of a 16" F/3.8 corrected newtonian astrograph in March 2014. Before I install it at iTelescope SSO late 2014, I wish to conduct star testing and take a few test images etc. Sounds simple, however in order to do so I require access to a mount capable of handling ~40kg. My current mount is already installed at iTelescope SSO hosting my other OTA hence the reason for my request.

I appreciate that you may not be willing to part with your equipment for two months hence my preference would be to find someone local to Melbourne or surrounds as it will likely be easier to set up the astrograph in an already established observatory for testing purposes. Once the astrograph is installed at SSO, I will be bringing back my 12.5" RCOS OTA in which I would be happy to lend you for a couple of months as a gesture of appreciation for your assistance.

If you believe you can help, please let me know. Thanks.

Hi Jase.
I have an old Byers mount that could handle that weight, that you could borrow.

Hi Rod,

Perfect! This sounds ideal. Its for testing purposes so no need for tricky electronics and other mount smarts. What DEC saddle plate does it have? I may need to build a jig to support the tube rings.

Thanks
