Me thinks that's a CH46, not sure, never seen one, but definitely not a CH47.

Its an old bird isn't it.

The ADI is probably same as CH47, worked on them a bit. I remember we has jitter issues with the gain control amp in these and with the internal gears caused a little jitter in the ADI ball! We eventfully trotted down to 12SQN and asked them what they thought of this....Pilots and techs just laughed at us and said the effect..."aircraft shakes that much it would be impossible to see"!

Went home feeling like fools as we had be chasing this for weeks.

Pretty sure you're right. It's a CH-46 Sea Knight. The CH-47 is the Chinook. It has four landing gear legs, not three.

I've seen CH-46 Sea Knights in operation on resupply tasking, and the way they sling the stores pallets around with such precision is very impressive: Fly in, turn and sling pallet, drop right on the spot, drop line and they're off. Blink and you'll miss it.

Yeah...your right....CH46 ....and yes....they definitely are ' shakers ' .
I remember standing on the ' loading ramp ' of one of these at Hickam Airforce Base at Honolulu ( 1975 RimPac Exercise ) ...it was doing a ' ground run ' and some ' techo's ' were busy going about doing their thing....and this thing was just ' shaking ' like a jar of lollies.

I can still recall thinking.....gee ...this thing could shake itself to pieces....don't think I'd chance going up in one of these.

Had a great time tho'......Flash......
