NGF-CM focuser issues

Just aheads up for anyone thinking of purchasing the JMI NGF-CM focuser. There appears to be an issue with bent focusing axles atm. I don't know if this issue also applies to the NGF-C focuser or any other focusers in the range.

In the past 4 months I have ordered 2 JMI-CM focusers and both arrived at Bintel with the focuser axle bent on the left hand side. I didn't find out about the first one til it arrived on my front door. Bintel were great and repaired it asap. I phoned them today to check on the delivery status of my next one and apparently the same problem has occured (the first one wasn't checked in store first before delivery. The new one was checked before being dispatched from Sydney).

The strange thing is that there is no obvious damage to the packageing that would indicate it they had been damaged enough to bend the axle. In fact the first one to arrive here had no damage to the packaging at all. This appears to be an infactory problem, though that is only my assumptions.

The long and the short of this is, I guess is, if you are ordering one of these focusers or have already ordered one, then ask your supplier to check the condition of the focuser before delivery to you.

I do know that bintel are getting a number of replacement axles to deal with the problem from this side of the ocean. Hopefully JMI will sort out the issue for future deliveries. I don't know if other suppliers here in Aus are aware of the problem at this time though.

It's a shame really cos apart from a couple of small engineering issues with this model, overall I'm wrapped in the focuser.
