JUPITER in OK seeing last night - 10th July 2006

Hi All, actually had a night of 5-6/10 seeing, might even have had the odd bit of 7/10. Anyway, best I've had for a long time. Haven't processed more than a few of the avis, but attached here are a pair of images from the same 4x powermate avi, one processed straight in registax followed by LR deconvolution in Astra Image and the other going through the conversion to bmp, ppmcentre, R,G,B split and separate Registax process and recombine plu LR deconvolution in Astra Image... hmmm not a lot of difference that I can see. Anyway, reasonably happy with these. Might be able to squeeze a bit extra or turn up something better in one of the avis yet to be processed.

cheers,

Hi Robert,

Nice images. Thats a lot of extra processing for not much if any extra detail, I guess it keeps you off of the streets though.

Did you do any unsharp mask?

Very nice Rob, I like it.

Like lester is alluding too, I think an unsharp mask might give some benefit.

I also think the blue limb can easily be removed in photoshop or similar. See below for an example (done to your right hand shot).

Maybe a tad too much contrast, but you get the idea

Thanks Guys, I did apply an unsharp mask, but it was bringing out too much grain so I reversed it.

Mike how do you remove the blue limb in Photoshop - is it by playing with the blue curve or adjusting colour balance in the shadow areas or something else. Just wondering if it's something I could do with the software I have.

cheers,

with the 2.5x powermate

here's a process of one of last night's avis from 20 min later, but through the 2.5x powermate this time... the full ppm centre, r,g,b split routine. happy with the detail, a pity some onioning coming through

Very nice Rob

The image scale looks about right for the 2.5x Powermate, if you know what I mean
