New Ultra-High Resolution Encoders from Stellarcat

Just saw this post by Gary on the Servocat yahoo group. Exciting news for Servocat owners

Hello to all and if you are in the US: Happy Thanks Giving!

The UHR Encoder system announced a couple of months ago still hasn't attracted enough to do a first run. We need 50 people committed to the project to get it going. So we're opening up the 'announcement' area. If you know someone that would be interested please pass the note along.

The system will provide 30,000 counts or 1.2 arcmins pointing. This will improve your alignment - so there is a direct result - and it will improve pointing after the alignment as well. It won't fix mount errors of course - but it will help TPAS to fix the mount errors.

The cost is estimated to be in the $200 - $220 range per axis. Installation should be straight forward.

Please write to us directly if you are interested. These will be non-cancelable once the order has been placed (for now any interest expressed will put you on a list - you can change your mind before the final order). I'm sure they will be worth the cost. Consider it this way: you've got a premium telescope - why not have the best pointing possible?!

Well in the past with encoders the higher the step count the more power they use, and of course the more they cost.
