[SOLD] GSO 12" Dob -Near New - Price Reduced - Upgraded + Extras

I am selling my GSO 12" solid tube dobsonian which was purchased new from Andrews Communications in July of this year (2013). The reason for the sale is that I have moved up to a GSO 16" dob and can't justify keeping the 12" as it's not getting used much now.

This GSO 12" dob has benefited from all the excellent upgrade advice on ISS, and I have added:

- A Custom Marine Plywood triangular leveling base, with adjustable feet and base mounted spirit level.
- Full Printed and Laminated Azimuth Setting Circle on the Modified Base, with protected degree pointer.
- Altitude digitial measuring electronic protractor.
- Upgraded Primary Mirror Springs to significantly improve collimation hold.
- Custom Primary Mirror Fan Baffle, and inside tube fan air deflector to direct air over the mirror surface.
- Custom Aperture Dew/Light Shield with velcro strap.

Included with the scope is the original equipment Crayford style 10:1 two speed focuser (both 2" and 1.25" Eye pieces supported); the GSO Super Plossl eyepieces in 25mm, 15mm, and 9mm size; the GSO Right Angle 8x50mm Finder Scope.

In addition I am offering the inclusion of a custom marine plywood tube transport case, which uses the original packaging foam supports, and is lockable with S/S fittings. I will also include the large hand truck and straps that I use to move the scope around.

The value of the custom/upgrade items and case above exceed $450 in materials alone, over the cost of the scope.

Please note Andrews has yesterday raised their price to match Bintel's and both are selling the basic scopes for $799 plus shipping charges.

This GSO 12" dob package represents a $149 savings on the GSO 12" dob as supplied by Andrews and the Bintel branded GSO model. If you factor in the minimum $75 shipping charge from Andrews or Bintel you are saving a minimum of $224 off the basic scope purchases from them. Factor in the spring upgrade, which is a necessity on the 12" models, the leveling base, and the azimuth circles and altitude gauge, this scope represents a major savings (add another $200 aand the time required to do the work there) over one you can buy today from Andrews and Bintel.

Folks this scope is now listed on ebay au and has a bid that reached the reserve price, and has a number of Watchers. There was a Buy It Now price on ebay exactly the same as the price listed here, $650 for the package. However, once a bid is received that meets the set Reserve price the Buy it Now drops out. Effectively the price is now whatever the highest bid is on the ebay listing. So if your interested in this great 12" Dob then keep an eye on the ebay listing because it will close in less than a week.

Note that it will be sold because an ebay sale cannot be cancelled after a bid is received that meets the Reserve unless the buyer agrees to do that. So I encourage any interested IIS members to get onto the ebay auction and lodge their bid.
