Fornax Group

Paul's very good recent posting of this patch of sky jogged memories of my recent attempt at almost the same patch of sky. Thin cloud and crappy weather
had me letting it go to next year's hit list.

I only managed 90 minutes of Luminance data in the Honders, but suspect it's worthy of a look. The opportunity to gather some colour data would have been nice....

That's fantastic - such a good area of the sky -

Wow, look at those stars. Sublime. What a scope.

A fantastic field. NGC1365 is in an excellent imaging position at the moment so why do you say not til next year? Are their trees blocking your view of it?

Greg.

Ta Greg... well no...but the clouds sure are....plus I've only got 3 more days of "down time" before work takes me off-shore.

Thanks Peter...a nice thing about the RHA is the stars are beautifully corrected to the very edge of the field .

Yep. More data...but I doubt I'll match Paul's heroic effort.

Nice field Pete, in fact i really do like it more than my field. There so many more galaxies that i missed.

If though you had full automation you could be imaging while you are flying.

Thanks Paul.... but while I enjoy my hobby, the day job simply doesn't allow distractions, so I'd like to retire with full benefits intact

I just meant you start the session prior to leaving the terminal and it does its thing while you are doing your thing. Not suggesting you monitor it whilst flying. If you do, just tell me so I am not in the air at the same time.

G'day Clive...the AO wasn't attached, I grabbed the data a little over a month ago while still waiting on an adapter from Precise Parts.

Ah... ok.
The reason I ask is that Ray is concerned that the chromatic aberration induced by the plano element would be significant at f4. (my gut feeling is it wont) but I was wondering if you had a straight luminance image to inspect...

regards,
c

Thanks Allan, You (and others) might want to re-load the page....I just discovered I had used the wrong dark frame data.... much cleaner looking image now!
