Ngc 1909.

Hi,

Another area of sky prime for a mosaic.

This image is 120 minutes of data at ISO 800, could do with twice this, so could take quite a while to compose a good mosaic.

Equipment used.
8” F/4 astrograph , baader type 3 coma corrector,. HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D.

15 x 8 minute subs x 2, ISO 800, flats and bias frames applied.
Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker .Processed in Photoshop 7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice work, Justin. It's a faint one. You don't need a mosaic if you have a FSQ-106ED and a big sensor

Yep no dark frames, the 1100D is pretty low noise especially so using a cooler box. So I thought I'd give this one ago without dark frames.

Cheers,

Justin.

That's awesome considering no darks Justin. Great job!

Do you have any problems with frost on the sensor using a cooling box?

No problems with frosting, I suppose it helps with the coma corrector in line too.

Cheers,

Justin.

Great work Justin. I think you'd fit in a mosaic with just a few panels required. Rigel isn't far away thus adds a challenge if you encounter gradients. Well done.

Thanks Jase!

ICE stitch usually does a good job of balancing the background and gradients.
Worked well with my SMC mosaic.

Cheers,

Justin.

That's quite good. This neb is an unsual colour compared to other nebs. A definite purply colour.

Greg.

Your right about the colour, makes it a little different to process.

Cheers,

Justin.

Good start Justin, it looks very promising! I have also a mosaic planned of this area, since 2 years (), this large region is very nice and the witch head is a very intriguing object top image

Marco

I agree with Marco, looking pretty good really, it's a super looking area that really requires some exposure I think, so far so good though

Mozaic huh? would be good

Thanks Mike!

I think I need 4 hours per panel, to make a reasonable image.

Cheers,

Justin.

Great capture Justin.

What a nice looking closeup.

I imaged the Witch Head Nebula from Coonabarabran in October but I'm still trying to process it...very difficult.

Ross.
