Safe case for Coronado PST and accessories

Picked these up from Bunnings. Safe case air/water tight. Like a pelican but without the pelican price.

Happy how it all turned out and was enjoyable doing it.

More tough cases

All Supercheap Auto also has great cases:
SCA safe cases they are called, google it.
I have the 260x245x175mm varietey for $15 as a eyepiece case
and a slightly bigger $37 one for my Sky90+3 eyepices and and a diagonal.
Cheers,
Peter

That smaller one from SCA is on special for $15.00. Most of them are on special. I weighed up the options and the size I wanted were almost identical in price between SCA and Bunnings and the cost difference was outweighed by travelling to a SCA that had them in stock. Overall SCA is more expensive than Bunnings except by a few dollars when they are on special at SCA, like right now.

I will no doubt acquire more of these as my collection of astro stuff grows. If only they did one big enough for a 10 inch DOB

I am pretty happy with the views too. What camera are you using to get pictures?

Stefan, I experimented with a couple of ways which I had lying around in about a 15 minute time frame I had spare. My iPhone 5 to start with. It took a photo that was overexposed at the center however shows nice solar flares at the edges.

I used a digi-T on my old clunker Fuji camera. A S series 5600 I think. The iPhone took a much better pic as I may have to a) extend or reduce the eyepiece holder to gain good focus or b) get a better camera or web cam or something. HA!

My next go will be the iPhone on a bracket with decent sun protection over the scope to darken the area around the iPhone.

Nice!

You might be rolling in the pictures much faster than me since you will be having heaps of Sun at the Gold Coast!

nice setup but i wouldn't have the batteries in that case unless they were themselves in a protective case - if they leak......
