The remarkable AR 1890 complex, Brisbane 7th Nov 2013.
Well, along with the cloudless skies, Queensland turned on the seeing and gifted me with some nice moments of a steady atmosphere, where the solar granulation could easily be seen in scattered patches across the solar disc as I recorded a series of 3000 frame AVI’s.
The local air temperature was a cool 30 ºC compared to the somewhat more blistering 5,800 K of the Sun's surface.
This is the best of the series and shows some wonderful detail in the remarkably larger AR 1890 complex.
I am crying - what a magnificent amount of detail - you are a craftsman Dennis!!!! my goodness me comparing that to the toilet full i took late yesterday. simply breathtaking
an aside question - how fast were you capturing the data - for some reason at full res i only can manage 14fps?

Hi Dave
Seeing really is what makes or breaks these high resolution images and today I was very lucky to encounter some excellent moments of steadiness in the skies above our back yard. When good seeing is married to incredible apps like AutoStakkert2, Registax and CS6 with plug-ins, the results can really pop!
Previously, I’ve had somewhat variable results with frame rates but on the last couple of outings, I did register that I was getting around 29 and 30 fps at 1280x960 using Firecapture and everything seem stable.
The only crash occurred when I was nosing around the system and “ticked” the AVI greater than 4GB box in one of the panels and then hit record – the app just closed. When I re-opened it the box was unchecked (i.e. it didn’t stick) and all appeared normal.
Thanks Laurie, Ted, Paul, Rick, Derek & big Mike – it’s good to see you marathon, multi-week exposure, Deep Sky LRGB guys dropping into the sub-millisecond sub forums every once in a while!
