Nice! That's very interesting Trevor - only ever been a white shimmering blob for me! I've promised some folks over here a view of Venus in a crescent form in December, white shimmering blob or not.
That’s a real cracker of a Venus, showing some lovely delicate details and tones in the planet’s atmosphere. Really nice work Trevor, it’s not often that we see you in the inner solar system!
Trevor,
Well done. Nice image!
I think, based on the camera, you're getting a bandwidth of 365-420nm.
The Astrondon curve is neat, but doesn't take into account the fall off in the CCD responce - almost <0.1% below 360nm http://www.astrodon.com/products/filters/uvenus_filter/
Thanks All for your comments.
Stefan, am having intermittent problems with the computer in my observatory that is dedicated to capturing my data. This Venus data was captured using a Laptop that has a different version of the capture and processing software on it and strange things were happening with the settings during capture.
Have attached a repro using the same raw data but reworked on my main computer on one of the few occasions today that it booted up correctly.
