Meteor and Milky Way

I never know how far to push the levels when I process my images.
I found this shot and decided to post it here after I tinkered with it.
Some constructive criticism would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you applied darks to the image to remove noise?

To me, it seems a bit washed out, perhaps? Adjust the blacks some more if it's possible.

Thanks, I thought so too.
This is a single image. I have tried DSS but wasn't thrilled with the result.
I need more practice.

Ah yes, DSS is a bit of an art, but it's worth persisting with I think.
