I did??... must have been another Mike Sidonio ...there are many of us out there you know
Love galaxies and when there are more than one in the field it's even better
Not bad Greg, not bad ...still think that CDK needs to be at Bigga..why don't you move it there

I must be mistaken and thinking of another area you shot. NGC5044 perhaps. Yes the CDK is begging for darker skies. I am tweaking
various aspects of the scope, the mount and the cameras to maximise it.

Thanks Jo. I am happy I got an image from it as I invested a lot of time into it. I am ugrading my approach, , gear, settings, software and processing routines to get more out of it.

Yes, I did do the cluster of galaxies around NGC5044
Incidentally the field of this latest image of yours is almost exactly what my current system provides, is yours a crop?

There's the native widefield with minor cropping and a crop version which is only about 1/2 the image. I have a Trius 694 ordered as I have been very impressed with yours and Rays images with one. The best sensor/camera that's come along for a while.

Humm....I see some faint vertical banding on the right of the frame.
Very tidy image just the same.
Galaxies and long FL's are pretty much strawberries and cream.
Nice one

Nice group of galaxies expertly done Greg. The only nit picking I would do is that the background looks a bit spotty on my monitor.
Cheers

Great field Greg, but you need to do your flats again. There are a few dust donuts visible in the image.
That said , the galaxies are looking very cool, more integration time though I think.

Thanks Peter. I could not believe the number of satellite trails in the subs. Most had several. This spot must be right in a satellite super highway. Plus in the flight path as a few subs had jet trails in them as well. Those vertical lines must be residual bright sattelites. I'll fix em up.
An AO unit would have been handy as I would have liked it sharper than that.

Thanks Steve. I had quite a bit of trouble with flats. I must have lost a set of flats or never took them after the camera was taken off and replaced when I went to my dark site. I'll see if I can reduce that with Photoshop.

Its a great galaxy group. The main spiral is quite small hence not as sharp as I'd like.

Thanks Rick. Its a pretty groupling. I am not sure now where I found out about it. I thought Mike S posted an image of it but I must have found it some other way.

Yes some of the flats were poorly done and I paid for that. Man this CDK is sensitive to flats. Annoying really.

Nice image Greg - this declination is where the geosynchronous satellites are, I imaged it last season, and had dozens of trails crossing over, off to the side of the big elliptical, lucky they don't seem to cut across the nice spiral.....

Thanks Lee. I see. There certainly is a lot of them.
I did a repro (same links) of the image based on the comments and I think it came up nicely.

Great work, Greg. I like the repro - the noise and tracks that were distracting at first are now nicely controlled.

Thanks Dave. Yes the background was tough but it ended up fine. Modern image software is amazing.
