Vixen Starbook S GOTO system - price reduced

Reluctantly selling my Vixen Starbook S GOTO system. This will fit the GPD2, GPDX and the Skywatcher EQ5 (NOT HEQ5). It is a VERY precisely engineered system.

The Starbook handcontroler itself is much like a Gameboy, but actually is quite intuitive to use. The display shows starcharts, you can zoom in on your target to see roughly what it looks like etc. I fully updated the firmware recently (which made the motors a LOT quieter)

Everything included, in the original Vixen box. Only reason I am selling it is because I fitted a Skywatcher Goto system on my GPD2.I have kept this all the time, thinking I may revert one day.

Price is $250 including postage across Australia and NZ.

These are out of production now, so no more to buy.

It has an ST4 guider port, a LAN port, and it was also modified (professionally) to take a mains adapter instead of just the batteries in the HC. All control cables included, just not in the photo.

I believe so. Vixen used it on their computerised Skypod systems.

I wonder if this would go on my older green Vixen 'GP' mount,I have Vixen DD1 controllers on it,but would be handy with goto.Does the PA have to be perfect before using it,or does it have a 'figure out position' mode like SS2000pc

Be interested to see image of modified mains adaptor bit

Chris,

Happily swap for your SS2000

The adapter is just a female jack properly put into the casing connecting directly to the HC's battery lead outs. Nothing rocket science Just obviates the need to run it from batteries.

It will work on any of the Vixen mounts with the motor mounts (on the Dec head right side, and hanging on the bottom of the RA axis as usual).

It will also go straight on a GP2 mount. So, GPDX, GP2, GPD2, maybe the SP (not sure on that), EQ5.

Polar alignment is not critical for visual with it as it triangulates, and you can keep adding targets to keep refining it. I think by memory it'll go to 20 alignment stars For AP of course, you want it pretty good.

Price is now $250. That's REALLY REALLY cheap for one of these.
