Got some of my stolen astro gear back

, well I got a phone call late Friday from the local police , a private # ( I normally ignore those ! ) and it was the local police saying some of my gear that was stolen earlier in the year has been found . .
I went down this morning and someone had handed in my eyepiece case , yippe !! .
I did not open it till I got home just now and %80 of it was still in it , but a bit untidy ( Under statement ! ).

The Celestron 2x ultima , all filters bar a 2 inch LP2 and the 5mm circleT orthoscopic are missing .
Not to bad , and I an wrapped both Zeiss eyepieces were still in the case .
I will spend the rest of today cleaning and sorting . .

Brian.

What a great outcome, Brian. It's not often you get such good news after theft.

Any idea as to who may have stolen your stuff in the first place?

I did not know that you had some of your property stolen. Must have missed your O.P.

Sorry it happened to you in the first place but glad that you had some of it returned. I hope there is no damage to the gear that made it back to you.

That's good to hear. It would be even better if it was all there.
I do remember when the stuff went I suspected kids.
From the limited info you have posted it still smacks of my initial suspicions.

I agree with noswonky. The thieves have no idea of what they had.

Cheers

Congratulation! great news-I had a feeling when you first posted, you would get some gear back, its great news

Did the police say anything to you like 'additional information' on how they got it back etc? usually they do not. Whoever stole it had no idea what its was-I bet they tried to sell it at local pub,and got no offers.

This is the second time this year I have heard police return stolen good to owner-a bloke down the road had his 22/250 stolen seven years ago-kept the bolt in his glove box all that time, and now he has the rifle back.
