I love my boy.

His first pair of proper shoes.

Nice shot. He's gonna need a 'mini' man suit too soon or you migh make an add on cradle basket in the front of yours

Not sure what all the fuss is about, both look very poor to me-the first is all out of focus, apart from a small part of the front,I find it bizzare that many find pairs of dirty old work boots tossed on the floor so interesting

Ta Marc. Spur of the moment thing it was. I kicked his shoes out of the lounge-room into the entry and when they rolled against my boots, I just had to grab both pairs and set this up to emulate what I felt when I saw them together.

Don't you have kids mate? Your heart must be as hard as a rock!

The photo is focusing on my boy. Focusing on the love of a father for his son. Focusing on the fragility and vulnerability of the child. Focusing on a single shoe.

The father is not the focus point here in reality nor the photograph. The father's love is implied in the background, overshadowing all the protection, provision and love that is expected of a paternal figure.

As I said, "I love my boy."

Forget the photo and look at what's in it.

I have a very similar pic of my son's first set next to my workboots.
That was about 12 years ago.
I also have a shot of us both naked, bare-assed to the camera, faces
looking away....not for publication though, but damned cute

Steve
Thanks Steve! You too mate! Yeah... best you be keeping your birthday-suit happy snaps out of the public arena.....

A picture tells a thousand words and that's exactly what it does. Art is how it is perceived by the artist and its a bonus if others enjoy it. Most people will see further than the image at face value and that's is what matters. Well done.

Baz! Lovely concept! Certainly does invoke emotion. Actually, I like the second one. To me it looks like the small shoes are snuggling up to the big shoe.

I don't entirely disagree with Chris's comment below about focus. I like the focus point being on the small shoes and the big ones out of focus. That's what's making the images. But I reckon they could do with just a smidge more depth of field to bring just a little more of the little shoes sharper.

I do disagree with him dismissing the shots of some boots on the floor being interesting. You've proven that they can be, and invoking emotion to boot. (See what I did there with the pun )

Thanks everyone. To those who liked the photo, I'm very happy you get the emotional meaning and enjoyed that.

To those who don't like it, I'm absolutely OK with that.

Baz.
