itunes help needed.

I'm just about to rebuild my PC with a new SSD, I need to transfer itunes.

From what I've read I need to transfer the library to a new location, which I think I've achieved using the info found on the apple site.

What I'm not sure of is the actual itunes application, I assume I have to de-authorise and install a fresh copy on the new SSD"......... true or false?

I have 2 ipads and an iphone which are accessed via the itunes application, are there any extra steps or complications that I need to be aware of.

Thanks in advance

Hi Phil,
iTunes doesn't require authorisation or de-authorisation. If you have the iTunes library and all content in place on the new drive just install iTunes fresh. It will find your stuff if it's in the default place, otherwise it can be shown where your stuff is. Login with your AppleID and you're done.

EDIT: it just clicked with me what you meant Your AppleID can only be associated with five computers, therefore it is safest to de-authorise the old installation. If you forget that you can de-authorise all computers, then authorise the ones you're actually using.

Cheers
Steffen.

Thanks Steffen, I have transferred my iTunes once before between PC's and I think I already have it authorised on 2 PC's, I just wasn't sure whether de-uathorisation was necessary.
