M31 - Andromeda Galaxy LHaRGB (reprocess)

I wasn't totally happy with the combine of Ha with my LRGB image of this subject as the colour was a bit washed out and some of the detail especially in M110 was lost so I had a rethink and used a different method to combine the Ha in order to keep the original colour and detail. Also as a friend of mine suggested I combined some Ha with the blue channel so that the resulting Ha mix mimics the Hb as well as the Ha hence the magenta colouring of the star forming regions. It isn't so easy to see these regions on such a small image so I've provided a link to the full size image below

I am currently using a prototype imaging system collaboration between Tele Vue and FLI which consists of an NP127 with customised spacer tube with built in tilt adjustment and focusable wide field field flattener (no manual focuser), and Atlas focuser, centreline filter wheel and PL16803 camera, all of this is held together using the FLI zero tilt adapter system.
I use Maxim DL for all capture, Registar to register/align the raw frames, Maxim DL to stack into master frames, then photoshop CS5 to process

To setup sounds very technical and expensive....

Could you please post a raw Ha and luminance sub?

When I image the andromeda in Ha all I see is the core and no detail of the peripheral spiral arms.

What exposure times of each channel would you need to get something as beautiful as this??

Sorry to ask so many queationa Gordon. I am still very new to LRGB and NB imaging.

Give me a couple of days to sort out the sub frames as I am in a stretch of night shifts. I used 10 minute sub frames for all the filters including Lum and Ha. When imaging in Ha you will mainly see the starforming(Hydrogen emitting) regions and some of the dust lanes but you will see less of the spiral arms compared to Lum, this is because you are imaging for different parts of the galaxy in Ha compared to Lum.
