Well I have figured out the problem with the focus on my scope & now can see very clear!! What a difference it is going from a cheap 70mm aputer refractor to a 8" dobsonian... It's amazing!!! Though I only did get to look at a few stars it was still exhilarating, I can't wait to check out the rest of night sky.

It's a whole new ball game Matt...going to a larger aperture sure opens everything up .....from 70mm to 200mm.....more to see...much brighter images......won't be long before you'll want to go bigger.

When you have had a chance to get used to your scope, there are a few skills that are worth getting your head around. The first being collimation. At some point you will need to do this to get the best out of your scope.
It sure does Col & I thought I was getting a good view with my old scope but now everything is just so much clearer, brighter & crisp!! I AM IN LOVE
Stu I ended up getting an ozscooe 8" dob that came with a 25mm, 10mm & 6.3mm eye piece. As you can tell I am really really happy with it. It has oped up a whole new world of stargazing for me!
I think the ozscope 8" is a rebranded Synta Dobsonian. If I am right, it will be the same as the Sky Watcher and Saxon models.
There will be plenty to see with a scope that size with the added benefit being it is relatively protable.
You will be able to get plenty of help on IIS when the time comes to fine tune the collimation. Lots of threads already exist on this topic as well. In the meantime enjoy the views.
