Jupiter Aug 23rd 1st of the new season!

With Jupiter now rising just above 30 degrees elevation at dawn decided to dust off the gear and take my first images for over 2 months. Seeing was very stable though there was some very thin cloud.
14 mins of captures de-rotated in winjupos taken between 4.52UT and 5.06UT in virtual full daylight.

SW Auto Dob 250 & QHY5L colour cam, 1.5x drizzle:

Excellent start Stuart, and a great image for 30 degr elevation. Can already see some evolution in the wake trailing the GRS.

Cheers fellas! Should get interesting once Jup gets above 50 degrees here in the UK provided the seeing is ok which it rarely is during winter. These late summer mornings always seem to provide the most stable air.

Nice to see an image of Jupiter in what has become recently the solar imaging gallery. Not much planetary action at present and an endless sea of solar images. Thanks for posting the shot and enjoy it now because in two years it will be very high in the sky here and not so there.

I like the colour of your image and the detail is pretty good too.

Thanks Paul yes you seem to enjoy plenty of Solar activity down under For sure Jupiter is our last Planetary target at a decent elevation in the UK and I plan to milk it for all its worth these coming months. The QHY5L-ll cam with its faster framerate than my DFK and more sensitive cmos sensor looks like producing some good results certainly after shooting Saturn at 25 degrees I'm convinced it will do the business.
