SSD's

I just upgraded the HDD on my Toshiba A660 to a Samsung 840Pro 250gb SSD. The lappy was getting hung up constantly, especially running photoshop elements and digital photo professional.
I was a bit nervous about doing the upgrade as I am a complete novice with anything IT. The shop who sold me the SSD did not have the eSATA cable I needed but gave me a HDD connector box to try and it worked without a hitch. Took about 2 hours to clone the disk with the supplied Samsung data migration software.
I nearly fell over when I booted it up for the first time. It was ready to use in 30 seconds. It used to take about 3-4 minutes before I could use it before. Very impressed with the speed programs are loaded up. Office opens in seconds. I should have done this a long time ago.

I hear you! I got a 128gb Samsung 840pro and it's by far the best money I've ever spent on computer gear relative to the boost it gives. My win8 lappy boots, ready to go, in under 10 secs!

Decided to upgrade my older Samsung N110 netbook which I use for taking avi's of the planets at the scope and for running PhD guiding software. Put in an extra gigabyte of ram and ordered a 120 SSD. I had thought about getting a new one but it works well, great battery life and is pretty solid. Netbooks are hard to find these days. Hopefully the upgrades will breath new life into it for another two years or so.
