Just another Lagoon Nebula

Taking advantage of the clear skies in Sydney this week
5x5min Ha
15x5min OIII
20x5min SII
Atik 314L+ / SW 120 f5 / EQ5pro

Better version here: http://hughsblog.wordpress.com/2013/...lagoon-nebula/

Incidentally the Lagoon was the first DSO I tried to photograph before I took the plunge and bought a mount/scope. The second image attached was my best effort at it using a 5DmkIII + 70-200Lf4 on a normal tripod. From memory it was about 100 2.5 sec lights + 100 darks. I took that last August and I'm quite pleased with the images I'm producing now compared to just under a year ago

Great looking lagoon photo Hugh.

The wide field looks good as well.

I looked at the sky when I went to work on Friday. Rushcutters bay has a huge expanse of sky. Excellent unobstructed views to the south and east.

Ross,

Thanks Ross and Larry

The balcony at work gets a clear view from SE through E to NNW with a couple of big buildings to the North.

Traditional Hubble palette, nice tonal changes with great detail.
