Red Screen and other assorted software - Linux

Hey guys,

I just got a new laptop because I plan on getting a nice new Dob with a GOTO mount. I installed Linux on it for work and really, because it's better

I got a few of the basic bits from searching around and I can use most of the windows ones with Wine (1.4 is needed for most of them I have found) I haven't found one for turning the screen red tint yet.

Anyone else out there use Linux that could help me out?

Edit: I have no idea how I clicked on this board, can someone please move this to somewhere more suitable?

Thanks,

Intergage.

Ok, never mind about the red screen. I got it working with something called xcalib and then a little script. If anyone wants it, let me know. It was a bit of a pain so I wont post it unless someone wants it.

You could use redshift to do this - http://jonls.dk/redshift/

It is designed for subtly shifting the colour temperature at night to ease your eyes, but you can use it in a non subtle way by just running `redshift -O 1000` to drop your colour temperature immediately to 1000K - fiddle with that number to your taste.

Run `redshift -x` to get it back to the default.
