Key Hole, more processing.

Cold wet rainy day, a good time to spend more time processing.
I've cropped and change colour saturations, also a little more smoothing.

Here's the link to my original. http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/a...e.php?a=142107

Hopefully an improvement.

Equipment.

ED 80, ED 2 x barlow, baader fringe killer.
HEQ pro 5 mount. Orion mini guider.

Unmodded canon 1100D,

5 and 8 minute subs at ISO 1600 117 minutes, darks and flat frames applied.

Median stack in DSS, processed in PS7.

Cheers,

Justin.

The colour on this one definitely looks better Justin. You could probably tighten the contrast up a bit though.

Cheers

Hi,

Last go at processing this beasty, a little more contrast added and backed off on the levels.
Starting get noisy though.

Cheers,

Justin.

Great image for poor integration (117' understood?)

Try to make bright stars smaller, in first version do not have halo around

I suggest to try Iris software for stacking and preprocessing, I had a great surplus with it, with DSS my raw (60D) are unusable

Looks this M45 image,

before

and then...

thanks for share, anyway!

Thanks Elio,

I have Iris but have not used it much. I convert my images to tiffs for processing in DSS.
The beta version works ok on canon raw, but I find the tiff's easier.

Cheers,

JUstin.

Good news on beta...ok, you can try to apply a logarithmic stretch with asinh function of Iris, after DSS work, you can keep stars safely

A beautiful image, however!

Nice image Justin; an improvement on the original. Maybe a little more sharpening would help some of the detail (in the brighter regions only to avoid increasing the noise).
