Windows 8 & IE 10 not displaying IIS pics

Hi,

I've recently acquired a PC with Win 8 and IE10. When I click on an image in an Ice in Space post (Beginners Astrophotography for instance), it brings up a new IE tab as per normal, but the image is just black. Happens with every image in any forum.

Any suggestions (apart from migrating to Apple )

Cheers,

I just tried this out of curiosity (normally use Firefox) and it works fine for me. Clicking on an image in a thread brings up a larger image in a floating layer, then clicking that image opens it in a new tab.
I have auto update on so both my Win8 and IE10 are latest versions (IE is 10.0.9200.16599)

This seems to be a common problem with IE8 and IE9 on Windows 7 (I do not have IE10 or Win 8). It does not appear to affect IE8 on XP. I have this problem on all my win 7 installations now but this was not always the case. The links did work initially so could have been associated with an update (security?)

The effect is that most of the embedded links do not work with IE8 in Win 7. As already reported there is no problem with firefox. I have not investigated but it may be a security problem.

I have windows 7 64 bit and IE10. Very infrequently I will have a day where I can see thumbnail images on IIS, but cannot load the full image-next day, everything is back to normal. I have no idea why.

Like Hugh I tried IE10 on my Win7 box and the images loaded first try. Everything is patched up to and including this week's M$ attempt to fix their security.

I've just been through this but with Win7. An IIS tech man, Mojo (Terry), advised me to abandon IE10. I'm using Chrome now and have had no problems at all.

I had the same problem
Try going into User CP, in Settings & options select Edit options.
Find Thread display option area and check the box for Show images
This fixed it for me
Oh, and in Misc Options select Standard image browser

This has happened before if the web browser zoom level is above 100%. Check the bottom right of the screen (make sure the status bar is on) and if it is not 100% click on it to reset it and then see if the pictures work.

Give this a go,

Cheers

Chris

I'm using Windows 8 Pro on a new HP laptop. I have been looking all over ISS but was using Firefox without problems other than Win8 being too bright. Just tried IE10 without any problems so its not a consistent problem.

It would be interesting if you have the same problem using Firefox?

Spot on Chris. The zoom level was 105%. Set it back to 100% and all is well.

Thanks for that!
