Melbourne's Cold but Clear Nights

Any other Melbourne/Victoria IIS members taking advantage of the very clear but damn cold night we have had over the past few nights? It is remarkable how stable the atmosphere appears maybe ideal for planetary viewing and imaging.

It is so clear outside but it is a shame it's too cold! Have not been out since the weather got bad for a while now it is really really cold!

I bet it'll turn to crap once I'm back.

There are many things I miss about being away from home, but the astronomy/astrophotography is certainly right up there, along with beer, decent food, a decent shower, beer, a decent bed, beer, walking my dog, beer. Oops, forgot the misses and kids, but at least I can Skype them, you can't Skype a beer.

All ready for this Sunday night for a peek...with fresh baked scones and a thermos of earl grey to keep the chills away...plus a hot water bottle in a teatowel to keep the ep's clear!

Getting my gear out tonight, the nearly full moon is going to be a setback, but in melbourne you gotta take it when you can get it.

About to head out to view Saturn. Some of those cup noodles are on hand to deal with the cold.

Too bad this stretch of clear nights didn't land on last weekend
