Lagoon & Trifid, ED80 unmodded Canon1100D.

Hi,

This is my first image in a while, been lot's of cloud and rain.

This is a total of 3 hours , 10 minute subs. I used a field flattener but not the fringe killer.

Equipment.

Unmodded canon 1100D, baader coma corrector, cooler box.

24 x 10 minute subs, ISO 800, darks and flat frames applied.

Median stack in DSS, processed in PS7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Very Nice Justin, looks like we were shooting the same object although I could only manage x 2min subs @ ISO1600 so it was fairly noisy.

Your shot has great colours and good scale.

Are you having tracking issues with HEQ pro 5?

Cheers,

Justin.

Hi Justin,

Not at all, the main reason for the short subs was cloud, I just tried to squeeze as much as I could while I had a sucker hole. Didn't even have time to setup the guiding scope.

Great looking photo Justin.

Nice colours and wide FOV.

Did you use a focal reducer?

Ross.

No focal reducer, wouldn't mind getting one though.

Look forward to your result Andrew!

Your 450mm focal length will take in the extensions on the lagoon nicely.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice one Justin; you continue to do good colour work with that 1100D, showing good reds and blues!

Thanks Eric!

I use an orion field flattener, works ok but the stars are not perfect at the edge of the field.

This is a wonderful image, like astrophotography should be-I rarely comment on images here these days, they are nearly all way over saturated,or just plan 'fantasy images'-that look like something from side of a holden panel van in the seventies.I wish we could see more real astro images like this-very well done

Nice to have your opinion, glad you like the image.

Justin.

Justin,
Great looking photo!
I have an Orion ED 80 and an EOS 60D and am slowly getting
setup to try my hand at some astrophotography.
The quality you are getting from your kit has given me renewed enthusiasm.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
