Skywatcher 90mm Maksutov

Almost brand new..

I bought this scope a couple of months ago, before the recent annular solar eclipse (10 May 2013). I used it to observe the eclipse then and occasionally for observing the sun spots. With this telescope, Saturn looks just as big, just as crystal clear as the more expensive 9.25 inches Schmidt-Cass telescope at The Sound of Silent in Yulara (the great outback). I could easily see Saturn and many deep sky objects at 125x and even 158x magnifications with sharp contrast and no false colouration. Sadly, I need some money for astro-photography equipment.

Skywatcher Maksutov 90mm
Solar filter (In perfect condition)
Bintel moon filter
Compass
25mm, 10mm eyepieces
5x24 finder scope with solar finder scope
90 degree star diagonal
Vixen dovetail and 1/4-20 photo-tripod hole.

Asking for $250 plus postage.

In my opinion the small Maksutov telescope makes a great portal and beginner telescope; Better than any one metre long refractor telescopes with wobbly mount at the same price range.

You could mount this scope onto a small photo-tripod and use it as a tabletop telescope; or better yet get yourself a Celestron CG2 EQ mount that came with an Astromaster refractor telescope. I saw some Celestron Astromaster 70EQ on eBay and on Gumtree selling for as little as $60 but the mount is a nice sturdy one; better than the Skywatcher EQ1 mount that often sold as a package in the telescope shop.

A similar scope with an EQ1 mount cost $385 at Astroshop

A 90mm solar filter itself cost about $99 at Bintel

Thanks for looking.
