15-6-06 Jupiter

I thought I'd try something different to the normal barlow/ToUcam arrangemnt tonight. Seeing wasn't that good (4/10 maybe) so I had nothing to lose.

This image is a positive projection using a 15mm eyepiece in a meade variable tele extender on the 8" meade. Approximate focal length is 10,000 to 12,000mm, Unfortuntely I couldn't get the colour right. On a good night though I reacon using this technique I could get some decent image scale.

Beside it is my normal image scale

Using the same technique but with not as much magnification.

Avi rgb split, converted to bmps, aligned in ImagesPlus, stacked in Registax, ME decovolution and recombine in Astra Image, slight curves in PS (damn them onion rings)

Not bad Paul, given the conditions. I think you'd need some really good seeing for the first image scale!

That 4th April image is a stunner! Upload the avi if you can please (or send me a DVD/CD), I reckon I can pull something more out of it!

Great to see another planet shot from you.

Nice experiment Paul - thanks for posting the results. That second Jupiter is an absolute cracker, so much going on and so much to see in the frame.

Cheers

Dennis

Hey Paul, some very nice results here, that second post has some great detail - I wouldn't have notcied the onioning unless you'd mentioned it too. Looks like you got the best of last night, it was a dismal failure for me
