Took these yesterday morning (yes, i got up early on a public holiday) at Terrigal Beach.
No clouds at all, so no real spectacular sunrise unfortunately. The surf was very powerful though, thanks to the low that has been sitting over us all week.
A few big sets came in and gave me a bit of a fright a couple of times, and my shoe ended up submerged once after I thought I was high enough. Off topic, but it really puts something like the tsunami into perspective - teh sea can be so powerful! It just kept coming and rising and there's literally no stopping it.
Was there a low level sea fog or were your shots time exposures? I ask because the rock to the right of frame looks to be jutting up from a cloud layer. Somewhat spooky in nature. If you can fake a good Loch Ness monster then it would go well in these images!
These were long exposures (the first 4, that is), it was still almost dark. The exposures were around 20-25 seconds which is why it looks like fog/cloud.. it's the waves crashing in and the rising and falling sea level that creates that look.
I particully like that last shot Mike, conveys a real sense of emotion, a sense of beauty & Danger at the same time !
That would be a good one for a photo comp !
