Rc 8

Subs for the planetary nebula and for half of NGC 5247 were 400sec at Iso 800. Former was x 15 subs.
The latter I accumulated 4.5 hours but half were in 50% Moon light.
The glob =120sec at iso 800 x 10.
6559 was iso 800 x 400secs x 15.

Looks like a promising set up Graham.

The cooling really makes a difference - very nice. There appears to be a lot of detail that you'd be able to dig out with a bit more processing.

rc 8

Yes, need to learn some more processing skills really!

Rowland, the Canon was modified by CentralDS in S'th Korea. They did a grand job but it makes the camera quite heavy and needs it's own power source. I have got a delta before of about 15'c but it usually sits about 7-8'c below ambient - that's taken from the EXIF data in APT.
The thermometer on the back of the cooler reads much lower than that.
Last time I was out was getting -1 to -2'c EXIFs on 6 minute plus subs. The ambient was about 8'c with 89% humidity.
I am getting vignetting with the canon on the RC 8 but it is bearable!

CentralDS mods look good and condensation is never a problem from what I hear.

6 minute exposures generate a lot of heat, but with EXIF temps of -1 its doing OK.

Out of interest what is the supply voltage?

Looking good Graham.
I,m interested to know if you are using a field flattener at all.
Reason is I also have just bought an RC8 but have only managed a half hour or so with it due to my dads going into care I've just not had time to get it out.
What makes it worse from a astronomy point of view is I,m currently just over 300 ks from home sitting under pristine sky's in North West Vic without my gear
But dear old dad comes first so you'll just have to show me your work for now.
I'll be using an Orion refractor field flattener with my un modded SLR and I've just picked up a 550 D Canon so looking forward to getting some light with that.
