EFW suggestion please.

Hi everyone,

I'm about to buy a EFW... sick of the shacking scope when change the manual filter wheel.

this is what I find:
http://www.myastroshop.com.au/produc...sp?id=MAS-029C

https://www.bintel.com.au/product/zw...l-8x1-25-inch/
https://www.bintel.com.au/product/zw...-filter-wheel/

I like the ZWO EFWMINI .... very good price.
But looking at the pic, the wheel's stepper is a 'friction' drive? Would this be reliable in the long run?

I think the XAGYL use a stepper and gear system.

Anyone with experience with either of them... or any other alternative in Australia?

Cheers,
Mick

I've got the XAGYL and have found it works well. It's a bit noisy when changing filters which is a slight shock when you're not used to it.

At the time the ZWO wasn't available. However I think I would still go with the XAGYL as it is slightly thinner and those couple of mm can be useful for some configurations.

Another reason I went with the XAGYL is that if I upgrade my filters from 1.25", I can easily upgrade the XAGYL unit for the change.

Can't comment on the ZWO wheels, but I have the XAGYL 5x1.25 and also the 8x1.25, and have found both to be very reliable.

No noise from the ZWO I can hear, with audio turned up.

Anyone with ZWO filter wheel?

I have used their original one extensively, the new one I have is waiting for my obs to go back up although in the several test sessions I've had with my gear it has been very reliable and accurate. Why not contact Theo and have a chat with him. The other one I had was the Starlight Xpress 7 position the was also a very good wheel, nice and thin and reliable.
