ABBA Ride for MS

Six months ago I got back into cycling after a 20 odd year hiatus in that time I've clocked up over 3000 klm, got fit, lost some weight and met some really nice people.

Some of you may know through my other posts that my wife has MS, a disease she was diagnosed with in 2004. There is no known cause and no known cure for MS.

With most people of our age it's a case of the kids have all grown up and you can look forward to maybe the wife going back to work earning extra money for trips and the like or plan for retirement, maybe even a sea change.

The onset of MS has put heed to all these plans, it has dramatically changed our lives and our dreams.

I've seen a vibrant energetic woman who never smoked or drank become disabled, losing mobility and the strength to do things daily that most of us take for granted.

The group I ride regularly with on the weekends are planning a cycling classic to raise funds for charity including the MS Society- a 2 day event covering 320 klms from Armadale- Bunbury - Bunbury to Armadale (ABBA) to be held at this stage on the weekend of the 22-23 June.

If anyone would be interested in supporting this event, please PM me or if you want to remain anominous go to the link below "Everyday Hero" site we have set up for this charity.

Cheers

Gee, Trevor, I cannot imagine just how difficult that must be for the two of you, in dealing with MS.
It must be truly heartbreaking to see your loved one struggle with such disability.

I hope that you manage to get all the support you need to complete the bike ride. Just popping over now to give what I can.

Stay strong and hang in there...((hugs))

Amanda.

Such a worthy cause..

So far I've had 2 members donate to the cause and my thanks to them. We've raised over $500 already towards our $2000 target. 11 riders from my group have already shown interest in participating.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible and a receipt will be emailed to you via the "Everyday Hero" secure site listed above.

So please dig deep.

180 people have read this post of which 3 have been so kind to donate, now if the remaining 177 gave $5 each the price of a cup of coffee I'd be well on the way to reach my target. Thanks again

Thanks Warren, they come up with a possible cure every few months so we don't hold our breath in anticipation but wait for the word from her neurologist.

The group completed half the ride but due to bad weather and strong head winds the return leg has been postponed

The group managed to raise nearly $6000

Well done Trevor. All the best for the return journey.

I rode on the weekend in Brisbane for the MS Brissie to the Bay ride.
