Nexstar 8se power requirements

Hi all, I have a celestron 8se. The specs in the manual say power requirements of 12v DC 750ma. I am getting a 16 and 17 error which is a power problem. On the celestron forum for the errors they say 12v DC 2500ma.

I have tried updating cfm software and also have a 12vdc 700ma and have tried batteries, all give the same error. Also tried the secondary port but same.

Has anyone had this before as I do not want to blow the boards. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Kon

Hi Kon,

As long as you have a 12 Volt power supply, as long as the amperage is sufficient there should be no risk of blowing a board on that count. Even if you have a 100Amp supply, the unit will only use what it needs. Just make sure its 12 Volts.
I have a 6SE which uses the same mount. I use a 1 Amp supply and have no problems. Do you have access to a 12 Volt battery? Your car battery is fine (or a "Jump-Start"). If you still get the error with that, then I would suggest that its not a supply problem but something else.

Robert
