Omega Centauri

Imaged this over a week ago and only got around to finishing the processing last night.

It's my first globular, and I found it quite difficult to process compared to other stuff. Just trying to get the blue and yellow stars to stand out, without overdoing the core and background.

I'm quite pleased with the result

20x5 minute frames.

I can understand why you're pleased with that. It's a great shot with superb colors.

Thanks Marc, I'm stoked I got the colour in the stars. I love the blue and yellow.

That's a great Omega. Nicely processed overall. Background has a tad of a blue bias. S shaped curve or levels only in blue channel may handle that.

You've got some really nice golden hues in some of those stars. It would be nice to accentuate that. Noel Carboni "Increase star colours" may do that or perhaps selective colour in Photoshop or even the saturation tool on yellows upping the saturation may do it.

The best reference images for globulars is Daniel Verschatse. He is the master. In fact I wouldn't mind knowing how he processed some of these globs. He got some great yellow star colours in some of them (not Omega particularly though). Some globular clusters seem to made of very old yellow type stars.

Great photo Erik.

Sharp, detailed and with nice colours.

It is a difficult object to photograph and process. I still can't get it right.

Ross.
